Delicious Chicken Fried Rice Recipe You Can Make at Home

Chicken fried rice is a classic comfort food that’s quick, flavorful, and perfect for using up leftover rice. With tender chicken, colorful vegetables, and a savory sauce, this dish is a family favorite that’s as satisfying as takeout—but way healthier! Here’s how to make it step by step.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably chilled overnight)

  • 1 cup cooked chicken, diced or shredded

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers, corn)

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, for extra flavor)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions:

1. Prepare the Rice and Chicken

If you haven’t already, cook your rice and allow it to cool. Using chilled rice prevents it from becoming mushy when stir-fried. Dice or shred your cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces.

2. Cook the Eggs

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble them until fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.

3. Sauté Aromatics and Vegetables

In the same pan, add the remaining oil and sauté garlic and onions until fragrant. Add your mixed vegetables and cook for 3–4 minutes until they’re tender but still crisp.

4. Combine Chicken and Rice

Add the chicken and rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps of rice. Stir-fry everything together for a few minutes, ensuring the ingredients are evenly mixed.

5. Season the Rice

Pour in soy sauce and oyster sauce. Toss everything together to coat the rice evenly. Add salt and pepper to taste.

6. Add the Eggs Back In

Return the scrambled eggs to the pan and mix thoroughly. Continue stir-frying for another minute so the flavors meld together.

7. Garnish and Serve
